Sometimes you need a little sunshine in the middle of February, a break from the breakneck pace of work in Silicon Valley, and you need to go on a mission to find Pitbull in Miami, Florida.
Where to eat:
- Bodega Taqueria y Tequila – great taco truck with a hidden bar through a faux-bathroom, open late, get ALL the tacos
- Yardbird Southern Table – looking for good southern cooking? stop here and order the biscuits, the fried chicken, etc.
- Sweet Liberty Drinks + Supply Company – really superb cocktails
- Pubbelly Sushi – skip the noodle bar next door, this place doesn't take reservations but it's worth any wait
- The Lido Bayside Grill – located at The Standard, come from breakfast, lounge by the pool, stay for the frosé
- The Salty Donut – fancy, artisanal donuts, get there early before they sell out
- Coyo Taco – easy little taco spot that you MUST stop at, perfect lunch after donuts
- Wyndwood Kitchen + Bar – great little dinner spot, split everything
Located in Wynwood
Where to stay:
tip: Check out what's available on One Night.- The Raleigh Hotel – my vote for best pool in Miami, frozen mojitos too!
- The Standard Hotel
- The Betsy
- Nautilus Hotel
- Casa Tua
- Shelborne South Beach
- Urbanica Hotel – inexpensive little boutique hotel, great if you're working from Miami
Where to venture:
- Wynwood – see the walls, visit the art galleries, do some shopping
- Ocean Drive – the main strip in Miami, the north is full of hotels and the south end has lots of bars and clubs
- The Beach – because, duh. Even in February, the sun was out, temperature was in the mid-70s, and it was a vacation
