Started writing this little post over the holidays about some of the people in my life who made 2014 quite special. You guys rock; don't ever change. (Also, jumped in my time machine and went back in time to post this. LMK if you want to borrow the time machine.)
KELLEY:
Julia Child said, "People who love to eat are always the best people." Kelley was already a top-top-top person, but she's even better because of her passion for food. Where would I be this year without Thesis Club (aka wine + happy hour + good food), and the now defunct food blog, and our summertime cooking adventures, and the mutual encouragement that led to Kelley heading off to NYC and me to SF.
ELLEN:
Sweet, sweet El. (And Jordan, but he doesn't have a pic). This combo team has loved me the best. They are home team through and through. Can't wait to be adventure pals for life.
MADDIE:
Moi petit pulpe is off having adventures, as am I. Finally, I understand the trials of living in another state, apart from friends and family, and feeling a bit split at times, your heart and attention divided. But I miss this dear one and our roommate shenanigans——margaritas to go, "Mega Bed", gaper jokes, the ultimate party playlist, and "Come On, Eileen." After DC, just move out to SF. K, thx.
KAITY:
Although Dropbox tends to kidnap my roommate during the week, our weekends are filled with adventures to the beach and the park, to brunch and to Tahoe. The way we came to be roommates and friends and together in SF cannot really be explained, but I'm thankful for you, KK. Thanks for joining me in this chapter of life.
CRAWFORD:
Have you ever enjoyed...were they margaritas, mimosas, sangria...in a cemetery? Crawf and I became friends sitting under a sweater, in the front row, waiting for Beach House to preform at ACL in 2010. The concert was swell, but the resulting friendship was better. This sweet child has me almost convinced to move to Mexico, to discover indigenous languages, to start new photography projects, and to dance at parties and wear red dresses.
ROSEE:
Hey there, little ray of sunshine. I think our friendship is pretty neat. How many people meet over Skype, move to a new city on the same day, have a first date at a toast restaurant, and start new jobs at the same place on the same day? I am thankful for you, Texas-SF sunshine, and our past and future adventures together.
MELINDA:
Sweet Mel is my other roommate here in SF, and a crucial member on my home team. I am thankful for mini adventures and rich conversation thus far, but I most excited about our upcoming seasons together——promised moments of growing together, struggling pretty and shaping one another.
COWORKERS:
These guys are the best and they really make going to work the best. (Lady on the far left not included.)
SAN FRANCISCO PUMPKINHEADS:
So this is Lindy, Christiana and Carly and these three are pretty swell. But more than that, I am thankful for all the newbies I'm meeting out here in San Francisco.
