Hiatus/Curse

How do I explain my monthlong absence from this blog? I have been searching for reasons for my lack of motivation, lack of material, lack of photos and I'm at a lost. Then it dawned on me...

the curse of a Pro Flickr account

I started this blog in July of 2010 in order to "document change and pen down adventures so they will always be remembered." I have since blogged for nineteen straight months, produced 136 posts, and each month, I have always exceeded my bandwitdth/download limit on Flickr. Shooting with an SLR produces large images, so naturally, 400-600 photos a month would fill the quota. Finally fed up with my multiple Flickr accounts, and finally satisfied with my dedication to this blog, I decided to invest in a Pro account on Flickr that would give me unlimited storage space for a whole year. Meaning: I can upload hundreds of thousands of photos! JUMP FOR JOY! seriously though, I was beyond excited.

Until...that is...that I went a whole month without blogging. My feelings regarding this: disappointment, regret, embarrassment, oh-you-sloth (not sure if that's a feeling), apathy, etc.

I've watched my stat counter numbers decrease each day (though never reaching zero, thanks Dad!), and I have let photos collect dust in my camera. But enough is enough. Though I was affected by the Flickr curse (and also busy with classes and Young Life), I am returning to the blogging world with stories and news to divulge, photos to post, and adventures to share. I've missed you blog, and faceless/nameless viewers. (Please come back!!)

1. OUTDOORS

One of the new things I discovered lately in Austin is the abundance of hiking trails. When I say abundant, don't let your mind drift off to Colorado. Not abundant in that sense. Abundant in Texas terms. Houston has....Memorial Park, but does that even count. Not likely. At the Greenbelt however, there are numerous trails along Barton Creek and adventures to be have. On one adventure, Ellen and I even found Narnia. These hikes are helping my friends and I let out our inner granola too.

2. COMMUNITY

I don't really have college friends (sarcasm). No...instead I hang out with a group of pretty cool high school girls, attend high school basketball games, spend my Monday nights at Sonic, and can only relate with five other college kids (one who is pretty much my mother). Y the L not.

3. LOVIN'

I wish I could tell you that I had a dog....but I don't. I do have cute puppy photos though that I will shamelessly post here!! Hope this improves you day!! Especially if you started lent two hours again and you're already missing candy, Facebook, sugar, spice, and everything nice.

So I recognize this may be a lame, lackluster comeback post, but we all have to start somewhere.
Check back for my coverage of Maddie's half marathon!!
