Self Critique:
I was determined to shoot most of this assignment at the Texas State Fair when I went to Dallas this weekend for the Texas vs. OU game, but the fried food, the multitude of wild rides and coasters, and the lure of carnival games all proved to be extremely distracting. Also during these assignments, I feel as though I focus solely on the requirements for the shoot and that I forgo creativity. Maybe. I’m distracted by the assignment’s checklist. Despite the busy weekend and the two tests I have had this week, I managed to squeeze in an adventure with my good friend Alex today (Tuesday). We went to this graffiti park over at 11th and Baylor, off of Lamar Street. I was reading a few news articles over the park and it seems uncertain how much longer the city of Austin will allow the location to serve as a haven for artists. Alex though, and I, found the place and had a mini photo shoot. (Yeah, it feels silly typing that.) Overall, the vantage point assignment was great. I feel that I typically shot from different angles before, but this project allowed more practice. I really enjoyed shooting from “bug’s eye view” and “bird’s eye view.”
